The puzzle "Animals of Primachenko" depicts a collage of nine paintings by the famous Ukrainian artist Maria Primachenko, namely: "Wild Sheep", 1989; "Beaver", 1979; "Ukrainian Polissya Bull-Tretyachok walks in the forest and gathers strength”, 1983; “The Fish King Caught a Hoopoe and is Happy”, 1983; “The Beast Walks”, 1971; “The Elephant Wanted to Be a Sailor”, 1973; “The Tiger Laughs”, 1982; “This Beast Tells Fortunes”, 1983; “This Beast Ran from the Mountains”, 1978. The Beast series is an exceptional phenomenon in Ukrainian and world art. The artist’s subject paintings trace folk themes, and fantastic beasts are a pure creation of her brilliant imagination. Although in reality she painted people. Maria Prymachenko was well versed in people and, noticing certain character traits, laid them in her fantastic beasts.
The main theme of Prymachenko’s work is the universal theme of the struggle between good and evil.
