This hand-painted ceramic coffee cup features Bubnivka-style pottery, crafted by artisans from the 'Paths of the Trypillian Fore-Mother' cluster.
Bubnivka pottery blends history with modernity. It preserves the folk traditions of the Podillia region while meeting contemporary tastes. The hallmark of Bubnivka tableware is its rich floral ornamentation set against a reddish-brown background.
Bubnivka is a renowned pottery center in Podillia with a history dating back to the 17th century. The craft flourished particularly from the mid-19th century onwards.
Traditional names for the painted motifs have survived to this day: 'kosytsi' (blossoms), 'sosonka' (little pine tree), 'vylohy' (flaps/folds), 'indychyi khvist' (turkey tail), 'vynohrad' (grapes), and 'kvitka' (flower). The 'flandrivka' technique is especially refined; these ornaments are created by dragging droplets of paint with a pin or thorn, lending the design a lively, unique quality.
This cup is a perfect addition to a cozy, ethno-style interior, a table setting, or a collection of artisan ceramics.
