Mykola Pymonenko (March 21, 1862 - April 8, 1912) is one of the most prominent Ukrainian realist artists. He studied in the icon-painting workshop at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Kyiv Drawing School and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Each of Pymonenko's paintings is like a frozen frame of living folk life, which captures the beauty, everyday life and deep soul of Ukrainian nature and people. Pymonenko gained recognition both in his homeland and in other European countries. He successfully exhibited in Berlin, Paris, London and Munich. He was a member of the Paris International Union of Arts and the Munich Union of Artists.
Pymonenko not only painted, but also educated a new generation of artists, working as a drawing teacher at the Mykola Murashko Art School, and after its closure - at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Among his direct students were such future stars as Oleksandr Murashko, Oleksandra Ekster, Abram Manevych, Kazimir Malevich. This puzzle reproduces the painting by Mykola Pymonenko “Kyiv Flower Girl”. Among the collection of our puzzles you can also find the painting by Kazimir Malevich “Flower Girl”, which is a tribute to the work of Pymonenko, as a gesture of gratitude and respect for his teacher. The work of Mykola Pymonenko influenced the formation of the Ukrainian national style in painting, and also became a bridge between academic realism and modern trends of the early 20th century.
