The work "Zavzyati kosari" shows two cheerful cockerels who were hardworking and rejoiced in their work. The rooster is a symbol of time, which portends better times for all of us. The painting "Zavzyati kosari", which became the basis of this puzzle, was created in the technique of Petrykivka painting - a unique Ukrainian decorative art that originated in the 18th century in the village of Petrykivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Initially, it was a form of wall painting of huts, which was performed mainly by women. The patterns had not only a decorative, but also a protective function - flowers, birds, fish, fantastic creatures served as symbols of fertility, happiness and well-being. In the 20th century, thanks to the efforts of masters, Petrykivka painting acquired the status of professional art. In In the 1930s, a school of decorative painting was created in Petrykivka.

The author of the painting is Valentina Karpets-Yermolayeva, Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (2025). The artist works at the Center of Folk Art "Petrykivka" and paints interiors, works on paper, canvas, fabric, wood. Her work is distinguished by lyricism, sophistication and fidelity to the traditions of Petrykivka painting.
The painting "Zavzyati Ksary" is part of the cultural project "Petrykivka Painting: in Defense of Identity", aimed at preserving and popularizing Ukrainian artistic heritage. In 2025, this project was awarded the National the Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine - the highest state award in the field of culture and art. In 2013, the Petrykivka painting was included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This recognition was given for a unique tradition that is passed down from generation to generation and maintains a living connection with the national identity of the Ukrainian people.
