The 'Sushkivka' scarf by the contemporary Ukrainian design brand Art Trypillia
The pattern of the 'Sushkivka' scarf draws inspiration from the ceramic motifs of the Sushkivka settlement—a site belonging to the Sushkivka-Tomashivka local group of the Trypillia culture.
Sushkivka represents a transitional stage from the B2 to C1 phases (approximately 3900–3800 BCE)—a time of significant evolution in the Trypillia tradition, when established ornamental forms took on new complexity and dynamism.
The scarf’s composition reimagines the rhythmic interplay of spirals, concentric lines, broad ornamental bands, and geometric inserts characteristic of Trypillia ceramics. The fluid movement of the lines creates a sense of continuous rotation, as if the pattern is unfurling around its center.
A warm palette of terracotta, ochre, clay tones, and dark brown echoes the natural colors of ancient pottery fired nearly six thousand years ago.
'Sushkivka' is a modern interpretation of an ancient pattern, transforming archaeological heritage into an object of contemporary art and design.
