This handmade ceramic pitcher from the "Podillia Ceramics" workshop in the Vinnytsia region features a "rooster and flowers" motif. It is the work of Ukrainian artisans dedicated to reviving Ukraine's cultural heritage by creating tableware adorned with the traditional painting styles of their region.
"Bar ceramics" is a renowned folk craft from the town of Bar in the Podillia region. In the 19th century, Bar was a major pottery center; its wares were celebrated for their elegance, light-colored backgrounds, and distinctive graphic style. The craft's most recognizable features are the "horn" painting technique and *flankuvannia* (a blending or washing of colors), which harmoniously combine white, green, ochre-yellow, and brown hues.
Crafted from natural, eco-friendly clay and finished with a safe glaze, this pitcher is perfect for daily use and serving beverages.
Please note: The painted design is inspired by traditional Podillia patterns; the item is not a replica or copy of authentic museum artifacts, but rather a modern, creative interpretation of them.
What do the symbols mean?
- Bird: a symbol of harmony, family happiness, and good news.
- Flowers and branches: symbols of flourishing, fertility, and life.
- Dot and wave patterns: symbols of water and harvest, acting as a protective circle for the home.
Use and care:
- Microwave and oven: safe to use (for ovens, it is recommended to place the item inside before preheating).
- Dishwasher: do not wash in the dishwasher! Clean only by hand using a soft sponge to preserve the integrity of the glaze.
This pitcher combines practicality, beauty, and rich Ukrainian history.
