Vilni was launched as a response to the growing number of unemployed IDP and refugee women who, due to the war, found themselves in a difficult financial situation and in need of psychological support. Vilni craftsmen create hand-knitted socks, hats and scarves. Each product has a unique ornament and contains a QR code that tells the story of the craftswoman who created it. Products are exported to EU countries and North America.
The social goal of the enterprise is to provide Ukrainian women who do not have digital skills and are refugees, IDPs or those who have felt the impact of war with remote work and psychological support.
In 2023, the company achieved the following indicators of social impact: provided employment to 61 women who are IDPs; provided psychological support and assistance in improving mental health to 120 IDP women; 400 women received hard and soft skills for personal and professional development as part of involvement in the Vilni women's online community."
The company was created during the war, so Vilni is constantly adapting to new challenges. At first, we started with two main locations where there were craftsmen (Uzhhorod and Kyiv), and then we expanded our activities to the whole of Ukraine and changed the style of interaction. Currently, Vilni is setting up a processing facility for finished products and plans to train several craftsmen to work with a semi-manual machine in order to increase production volumes.
The main thing that Vilni has not changed throughout the existence of the social enterprise is the psychological support, which the female craftsmen and the volunteer team received in various forms, as it was critically important for those who lost their home or the main source of income."
