The It's Craft Foundation announces a call for applications for the annual Kentavrida grant competition. In 2025, you can submit your works until December 31. This year's theme is the creation of artworks for children and teenagers inspired by the history and legends of Trypillia culture, the mysterious civilization of our ancestors.
What is the Kentavrida competition?
Kentavrida aims to develop knowledge of the history, geography and mythology of Ukraine among children and youth. The competition combines creativity and patriotic education, encouraging new generations to better understand the values of life, nature and humanity through fiction.
Your story can start with the myths of the creation of the universe, go through the ancient Slavic legends and cultural layers of the Trypillian civilization.
Who can participate?
Participation is open to anyone without restrictions on age, citizenship or experience. Both experienced authors and beginners can apply. An important condition is that the works must be original, written without the help of artificial intelligence, and not previously published.
How to participate?
- Fill out the application form.
- Send the logline and synopsis of your work in Ukrainian to kentavrida@gmail.com. In the subject line, please indicate “Application for the Kentavrida 2024 Competition”.
- After confirmation, send the full text of your work.
If the logline and synopsis are not submitted, the application will not be considered.
Formats of publications
The competition is open for:
- Novels
- Stories
- Essays
- Romances
- Poetry
The form of submission is arbitrary. The main thing is the content of the work, its artistic strength and ability to convey Ukrainian identity.
Important details of the competition
- The application deadline is December 31, 2025.
- The copyright remains with the author.
- The winners' works will be included in the printed collection “ Kentavrida”.
- Part of the print run will be given to the authors, the other part will be distributed to Ukrainian libraries and sold on the It's Craft website.
- The authors of e-books will receive a royalty of 25% of the sale price.
Financing and expenses
The grant covers:
- Design and layout of the book;
- Minimum print run of the book;
- Partial illustration of the book.
The grant does not cover: writing, editing, research, translations, and other external costs.
How are the works evaluated?
The Commission takes into account:
- The work's connection with the history of Ukraine and the mythology of Trypillia;
- Artistic quality and originality;
- The potential to popularize Ukrainian culture among young people.
